Ways To Help You Lose Weight
Losing weight has almost become an obsession for Americans. With reality television shows like the Biggest Loser, American love to watch real life success stories about people losing weight. Many different programs claim to be able to cause weight loss without physical exercise or at the least very little exercise.
These programs would be considered fad diets with most individuals that lose weight will gain all of it and possibly more within months of reaching their weight goal. Some speculate as to why people seem to digress after a short period of time.
Long-Term Work = Long-Term Weight Loss
The answer is that if people want to have long-term results they must put in constant long-term work. Ultimately if an individual wants to continue maintaining the results they achieve they must commit to a lifestyle change. They cannot continue to do the same things, eat the same way, and expect that magically they will keep the weight off. There truly is a right way and a wrong way to lose weight.
We live in a society that demands instant gratification or in other words, we want results and we want results now; not tomorrow, not next week, but right now. The truth is that generally speaking the faster one loses weight and the least amount of exercise the faster they are going to gain the weight back. The old adage "You get what you pay for" rings very true. The wrong way to lose weight is to be on an unrealistic diet that doesn't require some form of physical exercise.
Fad Diets
One of the most recent diets is called HCG. This particular diet requires injections of a pregnancy hormone that is said to "reset" ones metabolism. In addition to the hormone shots, the plan requires that the participant only eat 500 calories a day for several weeks. This combination is said to effectively make the body burn more calories as the metabolism speeds up.
Results have been overwhelming and many people have lost a considerable amount of weight on this particular diet. However, the truth is that people that have experienced great results are also gaining the weight back two and three months after completing the program. Once again, this particular plan doesn't require physical exercise, in fact, due to the low level of caloric intake the plan suggest that an individual not exercise as it wouldn't be healthy for them. This sounds a little backwards, doesn't it?
No Substitutes For Hard Work
There really isn't any real substitute to hard work. This can be proven true in any area of life and dieting and losing weight is no exception. Without a long term commitment to a change of lifestyle the results will never be long term either.
