Mother's Day Crafts

For children, Mother's day is an exciting time to be able to show mom their love and appreciation for all that they do. They may need a bit of help in choosing an idea or a project to complete for their Mother's Day gift. There are many creative things to choose from. Some of the more popular ideas are crafts and homemade presents and cards.

Coupons

One very popular idea is the homemade coupon book. This is a book where children list different chores that they are willing to perform. Mom can choose from her coupon book a specific chore that can then be redeemed. Some of these chores might include: clean bathrooms, empty the dishwasher, water flowers, sweep the floor, make the beds, prepare and clean up dinner, and/or fold the laundry. This is a great way to teach good work ethic and the satisfaction of helping in daily household tasks.

Necklace

Another popular Mother's day gift is creating a necklace or bracelet out of inexpensive beads from a craft store. For younger children, using fruit loops would also be a fun and safe craft to create for mom. This is an inexpensive gift that can be made by kids of all ages. Although very simple it will be a source of pride for the youngest giver and something to cherish by mom.

Flowers And Chocolate

Scrapbooks are another popular Mother's day gift idea. Many mothers enjoy scrapbooking family activities and important occasions, but perhaps lack the time to stay current on all of the latest family happenings. Being able to provide the materials such as paper, stickers, glue, scissors, scrapbooks, etc., can be a very meaningful gift to any mom. This is also a gift that can last a lifetime and is the proverbial "gift that keeps on giving."

Collages

In addition, collages are also a popular and meaningful Mother's Day gift idea. They can be made from cut-outs of mom's favorite magazines involving things that she likes and is interested. A collage could even be a collection of the family's photos that can serve as a momento of fun family activities.

Drawing

Any mom will tell you that a picture or a painting drawn by her child is something that she will cherish forever. This is an especially good activity for younger children because of the simplicity of the activity. It is also very cost effective. One special way to make a drawing look very special is to first have the child draw a picture on art paper with crayons. The brighter the better. Then, the child takes watercolors and paints over the colored picture. The result is a very bright, bold picture, created by mom's little darling. This is also a fun way to engage children and keep them busy.
