Potty Training Your Child
In years past, the "traditional American home" included the father going to work everyday and the mother staying home and caring for the children. The mother was also responsible for most of the household duties. However, in today's society, it is becoming more and more common and even necessary for the mother of the home to work part-time or even full-time to make ends meet. In some instances, this may be a difficult adjustment for everyone in the family. We will discuss four ways to help the family adjust to mother working out of the home.
Divide The Chores
Daily chores are necessary for a clean and happy home. With mom being out of the house, the chores must be done by the entire family. Chores should be split up and each member of the family should know their chore and complete it upon returning home from school, work, and/or play. Older children should have several chores to complete. This will greatly help mom when she gets home from a long day at work.
Live For The Weekends
Between work, school, and other extracurricular activities, life gets pretty hectic. It is often hard to make time for the family. With mom working out of the house especially, families should plan fun, exciting outings on the weekends. This allows families special bonding times that are needed in the fast paced world that we live in.
Planning/ Preparing Dinner
With mom working, dinner often becomes neglected. In reality, dinner should be a time for the family to sit down and relax and become "one" again over a delicious plate of food. When the mother of the home is working, she must have help planning, preparing, and cleaning up dinner. It is vital that children of the family help with this duty.
It may be helpful to assign children different days of the week to be in charge of dinner. Shopping for the food could take place the week before which helps with the planning and preparation of the food. Cooking is a great skill for children to learn at a young age. It is also something that is enjoyable and helps mother out a great deal!
Take Time For Husband And Wife
With both spouses working, it is imperative that husband and wife take time for each other. Often times, couples feel burned out, exhausted, and frustrated after a long day at work. Despite these feeling, it is important that each spouse still puts the other first. Be patient with your spouse as you are both trying to earn a living. Take time for each other even if it only involves a long walk hand in hand. Little moments like this can make all the difference in the world.
